‘Leveraging Actuarial Skills’ self-directed training now available on Connect.A2ii
In response to high demand from insurance supervisors, the International Actuarial Association, the Access to Insurance Initiative and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors have launched self-directed virtual training on actuarial skills for supervisors.
The modules are hosted on the Connect.A2ii learning platform and are open to all supervisors with a Connect account free of charge. To complement the self-directed part, IAA, A2ii, and the IAIS are planning a series of focused Q&A live sessions with the trainers. The details will be subsequently announced.
This training aims at strengthening the understanding and application of the actuarial concepts and tools needed to support effective insurance supervision and regulation. The focus and approach are on teaching principles while making the training as practical and simple as possible through knowledge checks and case studies.
The modules span four areas:
1. Enterprise Risk Management
2. Valuation and Actuarial Reports
3. Reinsurance
4. Risk-based Capital

About the IAA-A2ii-IAIS partnership:
The IAA-A2ii-IAIS partnership was established in 2017 and in June 2022 has been renewed for an additional five years, ensuring continued capacity-building in actuarial skills for insurance supervisors.
Victoria Saporta, Chair of the IAIS Executive Committee, Peter Braumüller, Chair of the Executive Committee and Governing Council of the A2ii, and Roseanne Harris, President of the IAA, signed the renewal of the agreement, which will become effective on 1 November 2022.
Since 2019, close to 200 supervisors have participated in five regional trainings and the demand from the supervisory community keeps growing.
