The Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros and AFP (SBS) from Peru has expressed in many international forums its strong commitment and interest to promote financial inclusion in the country. As expression of that intention and as part of its joint project with IADB (Fomin)/A2ii, a microinsurance country diagnostic was conducted in Peru, to evaluate the current status of the market and to recommend measures to extend insurance services to the underserved and unserved population. The report explains how microinsurance development in the country has been shaped by SBS regulation and how supply and demand factors have contributed to its current stage. It also proposes a series of recommendations for each area of analysis for the further development of inclusive insurance in Peru.
