5th Consultative Forum in Casablanca on the topic of "Consumer Education: Old questions, new thinking"
This forum brought together some 60 high-ranking representatives from insurance supervisory authorities and the industry, with the objective to foster knowledge and understanding in the field of inclusive insurance markets.
The 5th Consultative Forum took place prior to the 11th International Microinsurance Conference (IMC) in Casablanca, Morocco on 3 November 2015 with a focus on innovation in consumer education.
The event focused on topics and strategies connecting regulation, supervision and public policy with industry action, providing a platform for exchange between insurance supervisors and participants from the insurance industry.
Consumer education is more important than ever in today’s rapidly changing insurance business environment. Trends such as the increased reliance on digital distribution have had a significant impact on both dissemination of financial education as well as the range of consumers involved. In addition, there has been a substantial increase in the number of public-private multistakeholder efforts.
The Forum attempted to offer public and private sectors a platform for discussing good practices and emerging trends, as well as the role of different stakeholders and the impact of current practices.
